Drew a bull tag for unit 6A. Any thoughts on areas to concentrate on? 68 years old, good health, ready to get my first Bull. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
Hello, I finally drew my first bull tag and it is for unit 8. We have many months to scout and search. We have 4X4's and horses that we can utilize. I have heard the bulls may be scattered by the late hunt and many maybe seeking refuge in the sycamore canyon area, which can be difficult to retrieve one. I would like to know of any suggestions of areas or strategies to aid in our scouting adventures. Thank you, in advance, for your time.

yeah, age is taking it's toll on my old body, bad left hip and bad right foot... worried this may be my last elk hunt. I have a cow tag for unit 10 in Arizona, last hunt of the season, Dec 2 thru Dec 11. Since I'm in no shape to be hiking a lot (maybe a little) but not so much.... wondering if any unit 10 hunters of the past or present may point me in the right direction.. Now mind you, I'm not asking that you shoot one for me, just give me some ideas as unit 10 is HUGE!! any and all reply's will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a million

I like the looks of the Apache maid mountain area, but it looks like there will be plenty of hunters in there because of the road access! Any ideas looks like a large section south east!?

I am looking for some pointers on hunting (cow archery tag) cow elk in this area of Unit 1. I am somewhat familiar with the Greer area as I have fished the Little Colorado River a few times, but I am not familiar with Coon's Canyon area. I would very much benefit from any suggestions/information on where to find elk in this area. My archery hunt in this area starts August 26th and ends on Sept. 4th, 2011. I can be contacted at sirskip3@aol.com if you have any information for me. Thanks. And good luck to all you elk hunters this season.
I see that Chuck is also hunting archery cow elk in the same area. Good luck.

Drawn for 5b North. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have harvested a bull during rifle season in this zone but have not hunted bow here. I don't have a lot of scouting opportunity, possibly 2 days before the hunt starts. Appreciate any suggestions.

Well, I leave in the morning for my cow elk archery hunt in Coons Canyon Hunt area. I have been practicing for months with my bows. My partner and I are optimistic as other hunters have reported seeing a lot of elk in the area in spite of the Wallo Fire. I will update when I get the chance.

I am planning on an over-the-counter elk hunt in the northern part of 4A and 5A; probably in mid October or early November. This will be a rifle hunt. Any suggestions on areas to hunt would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I don't do easily is quit trying. At 66 I am still determined to go after and harvest either a cow or bull this season. My next attempt will be an over-the-counter elk hunt up near Holbroke and Winslow, AZ. Units 4a and 5a I believe the north parts of those units. I have never been up there. The game and fish reports some elk in the Chevron Lake basin area. Anyone ever hunted that spot? I am taking my 300 Win.Mag with me this time. Fish and Game also mentions Red Hill? I was not able to find it while searching Google Maps. I am hoping the bulls will still be bugleing in Mid.October. Good hunting to all and God bless.

Guys I am desperate for some help. I didn't get much time to scout and learn my unit. I did make two trips up there, but I am a firefighter and it makes it hard to get away. I've never hunted this unit before, so any insight you have would help. Sorry, I hate to ask but I am desperate. I've been at work for five 24hr shifts and I can't make it up to my unit until the opening day.

We put in for tags not expecting to get drawn and if one of us did the other would come along to scout and help.
Go figure. The first time we ever put in other than for pp we get drawn. I got second pick 7e. Now I guess I'm elk-nuts and need to start the info gathering process. It's a DYI hunt; two tags.
Guides would be the best situation but its not possible at the moment. Any info is good info about forest service roads. Experiences tips or some recon from archery 2012 hunters or last years tag holders. We have allowed time 5 or 6 days to scout before the hunt.
We would be thankful for any info. I have some good info but looking for more.
Thanks

Where do I find a good map showing the limits of the Coon Canyon Elk Hunt. I have an antlerless tag for August 3 to August 12 this year.
Also Does anyone have some decent water holes in that area on their GPS that I can sit on, or is this a scope and stalk area?
Please send any help to my email - Dakotaatty@cs.com
YES I DO LIVE IN AZ AND HAVE FOR THE LAST 24 YEARS, BUT I USUALLY GET DRAWN IN 10 OF 5B.

Hi Guys
I need some help. My partner that I was planning on going hunting with this year (2012) just had heart surgery. With that being said there is no way he'll be able to make it this year. We got our tags for the 2nd elk season. He has hunted this unit before and the problem is I have never been any where close to this area. So if any one could help me out it sure would be great. I've got all my camping gear plus have my quad.
THANKS GUYS

I got a late bull muzzle loader hunt in Arizona unit 3b. Does anyone know how to hunt bulls in the late season? I'm always used to hunting them with bow during the rut. Is there any good areas in 3b?
