This medication can decrease headache, tiredness, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath that can occur when you climb quickly to high altitudes (generally above 10,000 feet/3,048 meters). REQUIRES A SCRIPT.

So if your at 8-9k feet feel like crap then the blue pill will allow you to get up to get down a few thousand feet for the night. If your in trouble going up 7-8-9-k feet stop and turn around you can die.

Oct 08, 2012 Altitude Sickness by: Nalgi Having climbed Mt. Whitney 4 times I know a little about Alt. Sickness. The first time I got to 13K I was about to die! On the way down I met a group coming up. As I was puking green bile, migrain raging and wishing I was dead, one of the group started this conversation "Looks like you got it pretty bad, Im glad you are heading down." "got a gun please shoot me!" "No Im a flight surgeon at Edwards AFB, I deal with Alt. Sickness all the time. Why arent you on the plan?" "What Plan?" "3 weeks before you go on a hike start taking plain old aspirin and ginsing daily. This will thin your blood (aspirin) and the Ginsing acts as a Vassal dilator (open the pipes bigger). the next 3 times I hiked Whitney I tried this and it worked.

Aug 25, 2012 Altitude sickness by: Anonymous Altitude sickness usually doesn't happen util about 8000 ft. Signs and symptoms are headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, body aches, and shortness of breath. There are perscription drugs such as diamox (Acetazolamide) and nifedipine that can be perscribed by your doctor. Google these drugs if you are interested in their action. I have friends from back east (flatlanders) that hunt with me every year, and yes they all say it takes about 3 days to aclimate. To decrease the symptoms of altidude sickness drink plenty of water,(sometimes dehydration can be confused with altitude sickness, use ibuprofen (motrin/advil), and be sure you are in good shape before hitting the mountains.

Aug 24, 2012 Basic Guidelines for Altitude Sickness Prevention by: Dave, ElkHuntingTips.net You could take some oxygen in a tank with you. Limit physical exertion to light activity during your first two or three days. Drink plenty of fluids. At least 3-4 quarts per day. Don't smoke or drink alcohol. If symptoms get worse, go down! Prescription drugs such as Acetazolamide and Dexamethasone are potentially dangerous and are more for people climbing very high elevations.
